Super Mario Galaxy is nearly here! To celebrate I've decided to make a small article detailing some of the game's mechanics and show off some gorgeous screens.
Mario Galaxy hits the shops November 16th, make sure that you've burnt a big hole in your calendar for this day, not that you'll need that to remind you, you've probably been muttering about it in your sleep. Super Mario Galaxy looks set to be a return to form for the gaming legend with loads of new power-ups, gorgeous graphics, innovative ideas and some subtle retro elements. In the most unpredictable plot-twist of the century, Princess Peach has been kidnapped! Shock, horror! Anyway, tubby Mario sets out to rescue her and probably becomes the first plumber in space. In this game Mario is rocketed from planet to planet with the aid of a few different kinds of transport. A Star Ring blasts you huge distances through space in order to reach new planets. Pointing your Wii Remote at a Capture Star and hitting 'A' will pull Mario towards it. On one mission you have to release a star from a ball, you have to leap on top and roll it along. Mario + Monkeyball = Awesome! Everyone loves bubbles! Sometimes Mario can be trapped in one, you have to blow the air to make him float. DON'T BURST IT! There are plenty of new and returning enemies! You can brawl with a Goomba on steroids, smash Dry Bones, fight a giant Petey Pirahna, destroy Magikoopa, quarrel with Baby Bowser in an airship and much, much more!
Let's talk power-ups! There are plenty to get you through the game but I'll be covering the Bee and Boo power-ups. You'll first encounter the Bee power-up in the Bee Kingdom. This gives our prtly plumber some wings and a stripey abdomin. He can fly for short periods of time and cling to walls. The Boo power-up gives you the powers of invisibility and the ability to walk (or rather float through walls).
Any Nintendo fan worth their salt will know that Nintendo's sexy bounty hunter, Samus Aran, blasted her way onto Wii yesterday in metroid Prime 3: Corruption. Corruption is the third game in the Prime series that sees the return of Samus' arch-rival Sark Samus. The nepharious Dark Samus (who, if you haven't already figured it out is an evil clone of Samus) is corrupting worlds with Phazon Seeds. Samus must put a stop to this evil-ness and save the universe. Ofcourse, Samus has all manner of new allies and weapons in her arsenal. The most powerful of these new weapons happens to be the Wii Remote.
The Wii's revolutionary new controls get you more involved in the game than ever and, finally, it's a true FPS! Yes! That means you can run and shoot at the same time! For the first time in the series there's dialogue which makes the whole story more involving. But don't worry, the puzzle element hasn't been lost. Samus' new bounty hunter pals are a weird lot. They range from 10ft tall robots to shapeshifting mutants. Samus' new suit, the PED (Phazon Enhancement Device), allows Samus to use Phazon as a weapon. This powers up her blaster to an amazing, unstoppable weapon! Don't abuse your new powers or 'Hyper Mode' as it's called in the game or you'll be corrupted by the Phazon!
The major letdown is the lack of online multiplayer. Corruption could have rivalled Halo 3 with it's now big possibilities of playable hunters and useable guns. We are, however given the friend voucher service. When you scan you get a voucher. You can get bronze, silver and gold vouchers to give to your mates. When you have received lots of vouchers you can buy new features for the game such as a screenshot taker. Sadly the screenshots can't be uploaded online like on Halo 3 which is a real shame. Imagine uploading an image of defeating the final boss and showing it to your mates!
Despite these minor niggles, Corruption is set to be the best game in the Prime series and possibly even Samus' best outing yet! I'll now post some amazing screens of Samus' first Wii outing below.
I managed to flip an Elephant in Halo 3! Yes, right round until it was upside down! I uploaded the picture to Bungie.net and now I'll put it here. Want to know how I did it? PM me and I'll gladly tell you! The message it says when it's flipped is also comical, it begins with 'Hold RB to flip....' but if you want me to tell you PM me in case you don't want it ruined if you want to see the message yourself if you're trying to flip it.
There's a new game released today! It's called The Orange Box, and it's made by Valve, the makers of the incredible Half-life series. The game is a compilation of five different games from Valve, these games are:
Half-life 2
Half-life 2 Episode 1
Half-life 2 Episode 2
Portal
Team Fortress 2
The game is only out on Xbox 360 today, unfortunately PS3 owners will have to wait until November to play it :(. We've given the site a makeover for today and it'll be like this again in November for the PS3 release.
Quite recently the Nintendo of Europe forum was taken down due to a major glitch. Now the whole site has been taken down.
Official Nintendo Magazine says: Nintendo is working on a new Nintendo-Europe website that promises to offer Club Nintendo members a number of new features for an expanded experience.
The site has been going for 5 years and has had many great features like updated game release dates and the Star Catalogue which, usually filled with wallpapers and screensavers, occasionally put up fantastic products like DS games. The site will be missed in some ways but the forum was pretty rubbish so good riddance to that.
I can't wait for the new site, that is, as long as Nintendo live up to their promise. I hope they vastly improve the forum by making it more fun and make sure it's moderated!
What could surely be the most hotly anticipated game out is finally here! Halo 3 has hit the shops and the most action packed online gaming ever is open to us in the UK!
Some of the biggest features of the game include lots of game modes, customisable characters, new weapons, new vehicles and an all new story!
One of the most exciting features allows you to take screenshots and even record entire battles and share them with your friends! You can view these from special camera angles to give you a better view of the match. If you have the match of a life time on a random day now you can show it to your friend!
Halo 3 looks set to be one of the greatest games of all time and anyone with an Xbox 360 has to buy it!
We've given the site a small makeover for the event, enjoy!
